08 / Skills and employability

Skills and employability

Students judge an institution by where its graduates go. Regulators increasingly do too: NEP 2020 asks for vocational exposure and internships within degrees, and NAAC and NIRF both look at progression and placement outcomes.

We help institutions and training partners build the employability side properly: skilling aligned to national qualification frameworks, structured industry partnerships, a placement cell that runs on software rather than spreadsheets, and internships that are tracked and credited. Bit2Bit’s own NSDC empanelment is in progress, not yet granted, and we say so on every proposal.

The problem we solve

Placement cells run on spreadsheets, WhatsApp groups and one overworked officer. Recruiter relationships live in that officer’s phone and leave with them. Internships are arranged informally, so nobody can show the credits, the hours or the supervisor’s assessment when NAAC or a parent asks. Skill courses are bolted on without mapping to the NSQF, so the certificate means little outside the campus. And placement figures quoted in brochures cannot be traced back to offer letters, which is a reputational risk waiting to happen.

What you have at the end

  • Skill programmes mapped to NSQF levels and qualification packs, ready for assessment and certification through the proper channels.
  • A recruiter and industry-partner register owned by the institution, not by an individual.
  • A placement system where every drive, application, offer and joining is recorded once and reported from source.
  • Internships that are tracked, assessed and credited to the student record and ABC.
  • Placement and progression figures you can defend, with evidence, to NAAC, NIRF and parents.

Scope of service

01

NSDC-aligned skilling (empanelment in progress)

We design and run skill programmes aligned to NSQF levels and the qualification packs of the relevant sector skill councils, so learners can be assessed and certified through recognised awarding bodies. Bit2Bit’s own NSDC empanelment is in progress and has not yet been granted; until it is, we work with your institution’s existing affiliations or through properly recognised partners, and we disclose which applies. An application reference is not published on this page.

Deliverables

  • Skill programme mapped to NSQF level and qualification pack
  • Training delivery plan, trainer requirements and lab specification
  • Assessment and certification route through recognised bodies
  • Learner records and outcomes linked to the student record
02

Industry partnerships

We help you build partnerships that produce something: guest faculty, live projects, co-designed electives, internships and hiring. Each partnership gets a written scope, named contacts on both sides and a yearly review, so it survives staff changes.

Deliverables

  • Partnership strategy by programme and sector
  • Template MoUs with clear scope and data-protection terms
  • Partner register with contacts, activities and outcomes
  • Annual partnership review
03

Placement-cell technology

A placement platform that holds student profiles, eligibility rules, recruiter accounts, drive schedules, applications, offers and joining confirmations. Students and recruiters use their own portals; the placement officer sees one dashboard; reports for NAAC, NIRF and management are generated from the same records.

Deliverables

  • Student, recruiter and placement-officer portals
  • Eligibility rules and drive workflow
  • Offer and joining records with document evidence
  • Placement reports formatted for NAAC and NIRF submissions
04

Internships and career services

NEP 2020 and the UGC undergraduate framework build internships into degrees. We set up the process end to end: host organisation onboarding, student matching, supervisor assessment and credit posting. Alongside it we run career services: counselling, CV and interview preparation, and career-readiness assessments.

Deliverables

  • Internship workflow from posting to credit
  • Supervisor evaluation forms and attendance or hours logs
  • Credits posted to the student record and ABC
  • Career counselling and preparation programme
05

Employability assessment and gap mapping

Before training, it helps to know where students actually stand. We assess aptitude, communication and domain skills, then map the gaps against what target employers need, so training spend goes where it moves outcomes.

Deliverables

  • Baseline employability assessment, delivered through our examinations platform
  • Cohort gap report by programme and skill
  • Targeted training plan and re-assessment
06

Apprenticeship-embedded programmes

Where a programme suits it, an apprenticeship can be built into the degree, with the employer sharing the training. We help you structure the programme, work through the applicable UGC guidelines and apprenticeship schemes, and keep the records both sides need.

Deliverables

  • Programme structure with on-the-job and classroom components
  • Employer agreements and mentor responsibilities
  • Registration support under the apprenticeship scheme that applies to the programme. Current scheme names and portals are not listed on this page.

How an engagement runs

  1. 01

    Baseline

We look at your current placement data, recruiter relationships, internships and skill offerings, and how much of it can be evidenced.

  2. 02

    Design

We agree target outcomes by programme, the skill programmes to add, and the partnership and internship structure.

  3. 03

    Set up the system

The placement and internship platform goes live, connected to the student record, with existing recruiter and alumni data migrated.

  4. 04

    Run a full season

We support one complete internship and placement season alongside your officers, fixing the process as we go.

  5. 05

    Report and improve

We produce the outcome reports for management, NAAC and NIRF, and set targets for the next year.

Questions, answered

Is Bit2Bit an NSDC training partner?

Not yet. Our NSDC empanelment is in progress and has not been granted. Until it is, any NSDC-linked training runs through your existing affiliation or a recognised partner, and we state which on the proposal.

Can you guarantee placements?

No, and you should be wary of anyone who does. We improve the inputs: skills, preparation, recruiter reach and process. We help you measure outcomes honestly.

What is the difference between NSDC and NCVET?

NCVET is the regulator for vocational education and training: it recognises awarding and assessment bodies and approves qualifications under the NSQF. NSDC is a public-private company that funds and supports training partners and runs Skill India programmes. A credible skill certificate usually involves both.

How is student data shared with recruiters?

Only with the student’s consent, only the fields the recruiter needs, and with a record of what was shared. That is how the DPDP Act expects it to work, and the placement platform enforces it.
